It’s beginning to look a lot like rhubarb season

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Sumner Downtown Association Executive Director Shelly Schlumpf and city of Sumner Communications Director Carmen Palmer, the small town is finally getting big recognition when it comes to rhubarb.

Several out-of-town writers have visited the area to try the rhubarb pies, including Danish travel writer Soren Thorpe, who visited Berryland Cafe last week.

“He tried all four kinds of pies they offered,” Schlumpf said.

Other Sumner restaurants serving rhubarb pie include Windmill Cafe and Sully’s Alder Street Cafe.
