Barber breaks record on gridiron

Puyallup Vikings senior quarterback Erin Barber tossed seven touchdowns against the Spanaway Lake Sentinels on Sept. 3. Barber broke Vikings legendary quarterback Luke Huard’s single game record of six touchdown passes in one game.

Raiders soccer season on the horizon

A full preview on the Pierce Raiders men’s soccer team will be unveiled in the Aug. 25 issue of The Herald.

The Raiders went 6-7-2 last year, but are looking to challenge for a title this season on the pitch.

Dynamic duo readying for another season on the airwaves

Local radio announcers Carl Lambert and Ron Crowe recently unveiled the slate of football games they will be calling during the 2010 high school football season.

The duo will broadcast 9 games this year including the Rogers Rams/Curtis Vikings matchup at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3 at Sparks Stadium.

All broadcasts will be on KLAY radio 1180 AM radio or www.klay1180.com

Spartans land new wrestling head coach

Rogers 2005 graduate Justin Rambow recently captured the Sumner Spartans wrestling head coaching position.

“I knew one day I wanted to lead my own wrestling team. I never thought it would happen so fast,” Rambow said. “It’s going to be a great challenge for me and the kids. I’m nervous and excited at the same time.”

Rambow was a volunteer assistant coach at Sumner last year after putting in four years as an assistant under David Johnston at Rogers.

Gibson arrives at Big Blue Football Camp

Cougars are hosting advanced skills basketball camp

The Cascade Christian Cougars are hosting an advanced skills basketball camp for boys and girls between fifth and twelfth grade who are looking to play basketball at the collegiate level.

The camp will take place from July 15 to 17 at Cascade Christian High School.
